Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the seller operating the EarthMC map-download store processes personal data. The controller is Cascadia Interactive Inc., reachable at [email protected] and Vancouver, WA.

Applicable privacy law and jurisdiction

Cascadia Interactive Inc. complies with privacy and data-protection laws that are legally applicable to the company and the relevant processing activity. A person's citizenship, nationality, residence, physical location, or citation to a particular law does not, by itself, establish that the law applies to Cascadia Interactive Inc., EarthMC, or the services. We do not voluntarily submit to or adopt the privacy or data-protection laws of jurisdictions that do not otherwise have legal authority over the company or the relevant processing activity.

Whether a law applies is determined by that law's valid jurisdictional scope and the facts of the processing activity, not solely by a person's assertion. Nothing in this policy is intended to waive, limit, or override a mandatory law that is independently and legally applicable to the company or the relevant processing activity.

Data we process

Why we use the data

We use necessary data to create and secure accounts, take payment, deliver purchased maps, enforce licenses, provide support, issue receipts, keep accounting records, prevent fraud, and resolve disputes. These uses are necessary to perform the sale contract, comply with law, or pursue legitimate business and security interests.

We also use proportionate sales and product analytics to understand where customers find EarthMC, improve checkout, measure product demand, and make more sales. First-party site analytics starts automatically on eligible page views and uses a signed cookie containing a random browser identifier.

Optional marketing email is separate from necessary service messages. We send marketing only under an applicable lawful basis and recorded preference. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or by contacting us. Unsubscribing does not stop receipts, security notices, download notices, or other messages needed to provide your purchase.

Site analytics choice

We use self-hosted Umami at umami.tinydc.net to measure page visits and interactions across our store, guides, account pages and administration pages. This includes product interest, cart and checkout requests, download requests, subscription actions and guide usage, together with browser, device and approximate location statistics. Network requests expose your IP address to the analytics service; it is not attached as a custom event property. We do not send account emails, account identifiers, form contents, payment details, receipt identifiers, sign-in codes, private query strings or page titles containing personal data. Session recordings and keystroke capture are not enabled.

Umami follows the same site analytics preference below, and its browser tracker also honors Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. Interaction counts indicate intent, not proof of payment or a completed download; our verified order records remain authoritative.

You may use the unobtrusive Opt out of site analytics link in the site footer at any time. Opting out stores your preference, clears the attribution identifier from that browser, and stops future first-party attribution and funnel-event capture while the preference remains set. You can enable site analytics again from the same footer.

The preference applies to the browser in which you set it. It does not rewrite completed order attribution snapshots, Stripe-confirmed transaction records, security records, or analytics records already collected before the opt-out.

Service providers and disclosures

EarthMC does not sell personal data. We disclose only the data reasonably needed to service providers that help operate the store, including:

These providers process data under their own terms and, where appropriate, on EarthMC's instructions. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect customers or the service, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards.

International processing and security

EarthMC and its providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. If a legally applicable law imposes a mandatory transfer requirement on the relevant processing activity, the seller will use a legally recognized transfer mechanism or another lawful basis as required. EarthMC uses access controls, signed links, limited metadata, and other reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Retention

We retain data for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy. Account closure or deletion does not necessarily require deletion of every associated record. We may retain information reasonably necessary to document transactions, preserve purchases, licenses, and entitlements, satisfy accounting and tax requirements, prevent fraud or abuse, maintain security, resolve disputes, establish or defend legal claims, enforce our agreements, maintain marketing-suppression or preference records, and maintain protected backup or archival systems.

Different records may be kept for different periods. We may delete, de-identify, restrict, or archive account information where appropriate, while preserving records needed for the purposes above. Information in protected backups may remain until those backups are overwritten or retired through ordinary system operations. We do not promise that account closure or an approved deletion request will remove every record immediately or completely.

MC Earth Maps desktop application

If you use the subscription desktop application, we associate a random installation ID and device public key with your EarthMC account to authenticate the application and verify subscription access. Account verification occurs at launch and periodically while connected. Signed offline licences last at most 24 hours, and a reboot or detected clock change requires an online check.

Desktop usage reports include operating-system and application versions, job outcomes, duration, generation scale and exported world size. Diagnostic reports contain error types and application code locations, not arbitrary logs or exception messages. We use these reports to diagnose failures and understand usage by account. We do not collect your computer name, hardware serial numbers, world contents, geographic bounds or local file paths through these reports.

The last connection IP associated with an installation is retained for seven days. Desktop usage and diagnostic records are retained for up to 90 days and expired records are removed by periodic cleanup. Separate payment, security-log and backup retention described in this policy still applies. Browser analytics preferences do not control desktop account verification or desktop reporting; the desktop sign-in screen discloses this processing before use.

Privacy requests and voluntary choices

Requests to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of personal information, or to obtain or port a copy of personal information, will be evaluated only under privacy or data-protection laws that are legally applicable to Cascadia Interactive Inc. and the relevant processing activity. Submitting a request or citing a law does not establish that the law applies or that the requester is entitled to the requested action.

Where legally applicable law requires us to grant a request, we will do so subject to valid verification requirements, exceptions, limitations, and record-retention duties. Where no applicable law requires us to grant a request, we may approve or deny it, in whole or in part, at our discretion. A voluntary account closure, correction, export, deletion, or other accommodation does not acknowledge a legal obligation, concede that a cited law applies, or create a precedent or continuing obligation.

We may verify the identity of the person making a request and the authority of anyone acting for another person. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to perform that verification and may decline to act if identity or authority cannot be adequately verified.

Regardless of whether a law requires it, you can use the footer to opt out of future first-party site analytics, use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email to stop optional marketing, or ask us to close your account. To submit another privacy request, contact [email protected].

Children

The store is for people who are at least 13 years old. A customer who is old enough to use the store but has not reached the age at which they can authorize a digital-purchase contract must have authorization from a parent or legal guardian. EarthMC does not knowingly collect personal data through the store from anyone under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted data without appropriate authorization should contact us.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when products, providers, or law change. The version and effective date above identify the terms that apply. Material changes will be communicated when required.
